In-clinic checks

ECG, blood pressure, body composition, urinalysis and lifestyle review — all explained during your appointment.

Heart
  • 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG). A 12-lead ECG measures your heart’s electrical activity, rhythm and rate, helping screen for rhythm patterns such as atrial fibrillation and other findings that may need GP follow-up.
  • Blood pressure. Checks for raised blood pressure, a leading risk factor for heart disease and stroke.
  • Resting heart rate. Measured during your ECG. An indicator of cardiovascular fitness.
  • Healthy heart age. Calculated from your data, with guidance on how to lower it.
  • Heart disease & stroke 10-year risk. A risk algorithm using your health and lifestyle data to estimate your risk.
Body composition
  • Body fat percentage. Compared against the ideal range for your age, gender, and build.
  • Basal metabolic rate (BMR). The energy your body needs at rest.
  • Estimated daily activity requirement. Your daily calorie need based on activity level.
  • Muscle and bone mass. Identifies risks linked to low body mass.
  • Hydration percentage. Whether you’re hydrated, dehydrated, or retaining excess water.
  • Waist-to-height ratio. A strong predictor of metabolic disease risk.
  • Ideal weight range. Personalised to your height, frame, and lean mass.
  • Body mass index (BMI). Interpreted alongside your body composition for context.
Lifestyle review
  • Lifestyle assessment. A structured review of your current routine and health goals.
  • Nutrition guidance. Practical, evidence-based advice — no fad diets.
  • Sleep hygiene. Why sleep matters and how to improve it.
  • Physical activity assessment. Tailored guidance to fit your schedule and preferences.
  • Type 2 diabetes 10-year risk. A risk algorithm using your health and lifestyle data to estimate your risk.
On-site
  • Urinalysis. Strip-test of your urine, with results given on the day.

How it works

What happens at your appointment

Around 30 minutes. Four stages. Designed to run on time.

  1. 1

    Arrive

Your appointment runs to time. No long waits, no rushed feeling.

  2. 2

    In-clinic checks

Your Health Adviser performs your in-clinic checks: ECG, blood pressure, body composition, urinalysis, and a lifestyle review. We talk through what we find as we go.

  3. 3

    Blood draw

A standard venous blood sample is taken at the end. The sample is sent to our UKAS-accredited partner lab the same day.

  4. 4

    Your report

You leave with your in-clinic results and discussion. Your blood report follows within 2–5 working days, with clear explanations and guidance on when GP follow-up may be appropriate.

  • Anyone with a family history of heart disease, diabetes, thyroid or kidney conditions

  • Patients who want time with a trained Health Adviser, not just a blood test appointment

Consider a different option if

  • You want a wider hormone, thyroid antibody or vitamin panel.

Sex hormones, thyroid antibodies, fasting insulin, vitamin D, B12 and folate are not included in Optimal. Our Comprehensive Blood Test at £299 is our widest blood-test-only package covering all of these.

  • You have specific cancer marker concerns.

PSA and CA125 cancer marker tests are not included in Optimal. See our Men’s Cancer Marker Health Check or Women’s Cancer Marker Health Check at £249.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to fast before my appointment?
No. No fasting is required for our health check packages, so you can eat and drink normally before your appointment.
How long does the appointment take?
Around 30 minutes from start to finish. Your Health Adviser performs the in-clinic checks (including the 12-lead ECG and urinalysis), takes your blood sample, and talks through your in-clinic results within the appointment window.
When will I get my blood results?
Within 2–5 working days. You receive a detailed report covering every marker in your panel, with clear explanations and guidance on when GP follow-up may be appropriate.
How is Optimal different from Essential, Advanced and Comprehensive?
Optimal is our broadest standard health check — it includes everything in the Advanced package and adds thyroid function, high-sensitivity CRP for inflammation, and uric acid. Essential (£125) is a focused baseline; Advanced (£155) adds a full blood count, 12-lead ECG and urinalysis. The Comprehensive Blood Test (£299) is our widest blood-test-only package, adding sex hormones, thyroid antibodies, fasting insulin, vitamin D, B12 and folate, but is blood-test focused with no ECG, urinalysis or body composition. Choose Optimal for the broadest general health overview; choose Comprehensive for a wider view of hormone health, thyroid markers, tiredness or low energy.
Is the 12-lead ECG a cardiology assessment?
No. A 12-lead ECG is a screening tool that records the electrical activity of your heart and can flag patterns warranting further investigation. It is not a substitute for a clinical cardiology assessment. If your ECG flags something, we will recommend you speak to your GP, who can refer you for further investigation if needed.
Who reviews my results?
Your Health Adviser has a sport science background, an MSc in Sport Psychology, and is Bupa-trained in health assessment. Blood results are reviewed against lab reference ranges, with clear explanations and GP follow-up suggested where appropriate.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. Adults aged 18–79 can book directly.
Where are your clinics?
Kingston upon Thames (Crowne Plaza, Surbiton) and Crawley (Worth Corner Business Centre). Both have free parking and are easily accessible by public transport.
Can I claim this back through my employer?
Many of our patients claim back through workplace health benefits or corporate health plans. We provide a detailed invoice on request.
Is this an alternative to seeing my GP?
No. Health screening is for baseline testing and risk awareness, not diagnosis. If you have symptoms that are worrying you, please speak to your GP. We will always recommend you do so if your results suggest medical follow-up.
