Right for you?

Who the Essential Health Check is for

Best for

  • Healthy adults aged 18–79 wanting a focused baseline check
  • First-time private health check patients establishing where they stand
  • People investigating fatigue, low energy or possible iron deficiency — Essential includes iron-related markers
  • Patients who want time with a trained Health Adviser, not just a blood test appointment

Consider a different option if

  • You want a heart rhythm check or full blood count.

12-lead ECG, full blood count and urinalysis aren’t included in Essential. Our Advanced Health Check at £155 adds these.

  • You want thyroid or inflammation screening.

Thyroid (TSH, Free T4), high-sensitivity CRP and uric acid aren’t included. Our Optimal Health Check at £189 covers all three plus everything in Advanced.

  • You have specific cancer marker concerns.

PSA and CA125 cancer marker tests aren’t included. See our Men’s Cancer Marker Health Check or Women’s Cancer Marker Health Check at £249.

  • You have active symptoms.

Health screening is for prevention, baseline testing and risk awareness, not diagnosis. If you’re unwell now, please see your GP.

I recently had a health screening and was thoroughly impressed from start to finish. Joe immediately made me feel at ease. The entire appointment was extremely well organised and professional, yet never felt rushed. I couldn't recommend Optimum Health Screening highly enough.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to fast before my appointment?
No. Our blood markers don’t require fasting — eat and drink normally before you arrive.
How long does the appointment take?
Thirty minutes from start to finish. Your Health Adviser performs the on-the-day checks, takes your blood sample, and discusses your in-clinic results within the appointment window.
When will I get my blood results?
Within 2–5 working days. You receive a detailed report covering all 24 blood markers, with clear explanations and any follow-up recommendations.
How is Essential different from Advanced and Optimal?
Essential covers the core blood markers most relevant to general health: cholesterol, diabetes, liver and kidney function, and iron-related markers. Advanced (£155) adds a full blood count, 12-lead ECG and urinalysis. Optimal (£189) adds thyroid function, high-sensitivity CRP for inflammation, uric acid, and serum potassium. If you want a focused baseline check, Essential is well-matched. If you want broader screening or specific markers, choose Advanced or Optimal.
Who reviews my results?
Your Health Adviser has a sport science background, an MSc in Sport Psychology, and is Bupa-trained in health assessment. Blood results are reviewed against lab reference ranges, with clear explanations and GP follow-up recommended where appropriate.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. Adults aged 18–79 can book directly.
Where are your clinics?
Kingston upon Thames (Crowne Plaza, Surbiton) and Crawley (Worth Corner Business Centre). Both have free parking and are easily accessible by public transport.
Can I claim this back through my employer?
Many of our patients claim back through workplace health benefits or corporate health plans. We provide a detailed invoice on request.
Is this an alternative to seeing my GP?
No. Health screening is for prevention, baseline testing and risk awareness, not diagnosis. If you have active health concerns, see your GP. We will always recommend you do so if your results suggest medical follow-up.
