Right for you?

Who the Essential Health Check is for

Best for

  • Healthy adults aged 18–79 wanting a focused baseline check
  • First-time private health check patients establishing where they stand
  • People investigating fatigue, low energy or possible iron deficiency — Essential includes a full iron studies panel
  • Patients who want time with a trained Health Adviser, not just a blood test appointment

Consider a different option if

  • You want a heart rhythm check or full blood count.

12-lead ECG, full blood count and urinalysis are not included in Essential. Our Advanced Health Check at £155 adds these.

  • You want thyroid or inflammation markers.

Thyroid function and high-sensitivity CRP are not included. Our Optimal Health Check at £189 covers both, plus everything in Advanced.

  • You want a wider hormone, thyroid antibody or vitamin panel.

Sex hormones, thyroid antibodies, fasting insulin, vitamin D, B12 and folate are not included in Essential. Our Comprehensive Blood Test at £299 is our widest blood-test-only package covering all of these.

  • You have specific cancer marker concerns.

PSA and CA125 cancer marker tests are not included. See our Men’s Cancer Marker Health Check or Women’s Cancer Marker Health Check at £249.

  • You have active symptoms.

Health screening is for baseline testing and risk awareness, not diagnosis. If you have symptoms that are worrying you, please speak to your GP.

I recently had a health screening and was thoroughly impressed from start to finish. Joe immediately made me feel at ease. The entire appointment was extremely well organised and professional, yet never felt rushed. I couldn't recommend Optimum Health Screening highly enough.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to fast before my appointment?
No. No fasting is required for our health check packages, so you can eat and drink normally before your appointment.
How long does the appointment take?
Around 30 minutes from start to finish. Your Health Adviser performs the in-clinic checks, takes your blood sample, and talks through your in-clinic results within the appointment window.
When will I get my blood results?
Within 2–5 working days. You receive a detailed report covering every marker in your panel, with clear explanations and guidance on when GP follow-up may be appropriate.
How is Essential different from Advanced, Optimal and Comprehensive?
Essential is our focused baseline package — it covers a comprehensive blood panel (lipid profile, liver function, kidney function, HbA1c and a full iron studies panel) alongside body composition and a lifestyle review. Advanced (£155) adds a full blood count, 12-lead ECG and urinalysis. Optimal (£189) is our broadest standard package — it adds thyroid function and high-sensitivity CRP for inflammation to the wider Advanced panel. The Comprehensive Blood Test (£299) is our widest blood-test-only package, adding sex hormones, thyroid antibodies, fasting insulin, vitamin D, B12 and folate, but is blood-test focused with no ECG or urinalysis. Compare all packages on our prices page.
Who reviews my results?
Your Health Adviser has a sport science background, an MSc in Sport Psychology, and is Bupa-trained in health assessment. Blood results are reviewed against lab reference ranges, with clear explanations and GP follow-up suggested where appropriate.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. Adults aged 18–79 can book directly.
Where are your clinics?
Kingston upon Thames (Crowne Plaza, Surbiton) and Crawley (Worth Corner Business Centre). Both have free parking and are easily accessible by public transport.
Can I claim this back through my employer?
Many of our patients claim back through workplace health benefits or corporate health plans. We provide a detailed invoice on request.
Is this an alternative to seeing my GP?
No. Health screening is for baseline testing and risk awareness, not diagnosis. If you have symptoms that are worrying you, please speak to your GP. We will always recommend you do so if your results suggest medical follow-up.
