On the day

In-clinic checks

Blood pressure, body composition, a 12-lead ECG and urinalysis — all performed and explained during your appointment.

Heart5
  • Blood pressure. Checks for raised blood pressure, a leading risk factor for heart disease and stroke.
  • Resting heart rate. An indicator of cardiovascular fitness.
  • 12-lead ECG. Records the electrical activity of your heart from 12 different angles. Can flag patterns linked to rhythm irregularities such as atrial fibrillation, or other electrical abnormalities. Not a substitute for clinical cardiology assessment.
  • Healthy heart age. Calculated from your data, with guidance on how to lower it.
  • Heart disease & stroke 10-year risk. A clinical algorithm using 21 data points to estimate your risk.
Body composition8
  • Body fat percentage. Compared against the ideal range for your age, gender, and build.
  • Basal metabolic rate (BMR). The energy your body needs at rest.
  • Estimated daily activity requirement. Your daily calorie need based on activity level.
  • Muscle and bone mass. Identifies risks linked to low body mass.
  • Hydration percentage. Whether you’re hydrated, dehydrated, or retaining excess water.
  • Waist-to-height ratio. A strong predictor of metabolic disease risk.
  • Ideal weight range. Personalised to your height, frame, and lean mass.
  • Body mass index (BMI). Interpreted alongside your body composition for context.
Urinalysis3
  • Urine glucose. Can flag patterns linked to raised blood sugar or undiagnosed diabetes.
  • Urine protein. A marker of kidney health; raised levels can flag patterns linked to kidney stress.
  • Urine blood. Can flag patterns warranting further investigation, such as urinary tract issues.
Lifestyle review5
  • Lifestyle assessment. A structured review of your current routine and health goals.
  • Nutrition guidance. Practical, evidence-based advice — no fad diets.
  • Sleep hygiene. Why sleep matters and how to improve it.
  • Physical activity assessment. Tailored guidance to fit your schedule and preferences.

How it works

What happens at your appointment

Thirty minutes. Four stages. Designed to run on time.

  1. 1

    Arrive

Your appointment runs to time. No long waits, no rushed feeling.

  2. 2

    On-the-day checks

Your Health Adviser performs your in-clinic checks: blood pressure, body composition, 12-lead ECG, urinalysis, and a lifestyle review. We talk through what we find as we go.

  3. 3

    Blood draw

A standard venous blood sample is taken at the end. The sample is sent to our UKAS-accredited partner lab the same day.

  4. 4

    Your report

You leave with your on-the-day results and discussion. Your blood report follows within 2–5 working days, with clear explanations and any follow-up recommendations.

Right for you?

Who the Advanced Health Check is for

Best for

  • Adults aged 18–79 wanting a more detailed health picture than Essential provides
  • People who want a Full Blood Count alongside the standard panel — useful for investigating fatigue, recovery or general blood health
  • Anyone wanting an ECG screen to flag rhythm or electrical patterns warranting further investigation
  • Patients returning for a follow-up check who want to track a wider set of markers over time

Consider a different option if

  • You want thyroid or inflammation screening.

Thyroid function (TSH, Free T4), high-sensitivity CRP and uric acid aren’t included in Advanced. Our Optimal Health Check at £189 covers all three plus everything in Advanced.

  • You have specific cancer marker concerns.

PSA and CA125 cancer marker tests aren’t included. See our Men’s Cancer Marker Health Check or Women’s Cancer Marker Health Check at £249.

  • You want a focused baseline on a tighter budget.

If a Full Blood Count, ECG and urinalysis aren’t important to you, our Essential Health Check at £125 covers cholesterol, diabetes, liver and kidney function and iron-related markers, with body composition and lifestyle review.

  • You have active symptoms.

Health screening is for prevention, baseline testing and risk awareness, not diagnosis. If you’re unwell now, please see your GP.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to fast before my appointment?
No. Our blood markers don’t require fasting — eat and drink normally before you arrive.
How long does the appointment take?
Thirty minutes from start to finish. Your Health Adviser performs the on-the-day checks (including the 12-lead ECG and urinalysis), takes your blood sample, and discusses your in-clinic results within the appointment window.
When will I get my blood results?
Within 2–5 working days. You receive a detailed report covering all the blood markers in your panel, with clear explanations and any follow-up recommendations.
How is Advanced different from Essential and Optimal?
Advanced builds on the Essential blood panel by adding a 15-marker Full Blood Count, plus a 12-lead ECG and urinalysis on the day. Essential (£125) covers cholesterol, diabetes, liver and kidney function and iron-related markers, but does not include FBC, ECG or urinalysis. Optimal (£189) adds thyroid function, high-sensitivity CRP for inflammation, uric acid and serum potassium on top of everything in Advanced. If you want a more detailed picture than Essential without going to the broadest screening level, Advanced is well-matched.
Is the 12-lead ECG a cardiology assessment?
No. A 12-lead ECG is a screening tool that records the electrical activity of your heart and can flag patterns warranting further investigation. It is not a substitute for a clinical cardiology assessment. If your ECG flags something, we will recommend you speak to your GP, who can refer you for further investigation if needed.
Who reviews my results?
Your Health Adviser has a sport science background, an MSc in Sport Psychology, and is Bupa-trained in health assessment. Blood results are reviewed against lab reference ranges, with clear explanations and GP follow-up recommended where appropriate.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. Adults aged 18–79 can book directly.
Where are your clinics?
Kingston upon Thames (Crowne Plaza, Surbiton) and Crawley (Worth Corner Business Centre). Both have free parking and are easily accessible by public transport.
Can I claim this back through my employer?
Many of our patients claim back through workplace health benefits or corporate health plans. We provide a detailed invoice on request.
Is this an alternative to seeing my GP?
No. Health screening is for prevention, baseline testing and risk awareness, not diagnosis. If you have active health concerns, see your GP. We will always recommend you do so if your results suggest medical follow-up.
