Worth Corner, RH10 7SL

Private blood tests in Crawley

Cholesterol, HbA1c, liver, kidney, thyroid, iron and vitamin markers, taken at Worth Corner Business Centre and analysed by UKAS-accredited laboratories. No GP referral needed, and results are usually ready in 2–5 working days.

Crawley appointments are released seven days ahead

The calendar shows every available time, so if this week looks empty it is the release window rather than a full diary. Need an appointment sooner? Call us and we can often arrange one within 24 hours, subject to diary availability.

Blood tests available at our Crawley clinic

One draw at Worth Corner covers every marker in your package. They are grouped below by what they actually measure, so you can start from the question you want answered rather than from a price list.

Cholesterol and heart health

Total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides and the ratios between them.

The ratios usually matter more than any single figure. A total cholesterol that looks high can be unremarkable once HDL is read alongside it, and the reverse is also true.

Included in: Every package

HbA1c and blood sugar

HbA1c, reflecting average blood sugar over roughly the previous two to three months.

Because it averages, HbA1c is not thrown off by what you ate yesterday. That is precisely why it is the marker used to identify a drift towards prediabetes early.

Included in: Every package

Liver function

ALT, AST, Gamma GT, bilirubin, albumin and total protein.

Gamma GT and ALT often move together for reasons that have nothing to do with disease. Interpreting them means knowing your medication, alcohol intake and recent illness — which is why we ask.

Included in: Every package

Kidney function

Creatinine, eGFR, urea, sodium and potassium.

Kidney markers are quiet ones. They rarely produce symptoms until well along, which makes them among the more useful things to measure when you feel perfectly fine.

Included in: Every package

Full blood count

Red cells and haemoglobin, white cells, and platelets.

Three cell lines in one test. It is the usual first step when the complaint is tiredness, frequent infection or unexplained bruising rather than anything specific.

Included in: Advanced, Optimal, Comprehensive and the Cancer Marker Health Checks

Thyroid function

TSH and Free T4, with Free T3 and thyroid antibodies in the Comprehensive Health Check.

An underactive thyroid can look like stress, low mood or simply being busy. Measuring settles a question that is otherwise easy to attribute to something else for years.

Included in: Optimal and Comprehensive

Iron studies and ferritin

Serum iron, ferritin, transferrin and transferrin saturation.

Ferritin shows stored iron, so it drops before haemoglobin does. Someone can be running low on iron while a basic full blood count still reads as normal.

Included in: Every package

Inflammation (HS-CRP)

High-sensitivity C-reactive protein.

HS-CRP detects inflammation at levels ordinary CRP cannot see. It does not say where the inflammation is, so it is read in combination rather than alone.

Included in: Optimal and Comprehensive

Vitamins and hormones

Vitamin D, B12, folate, and sex hormones in the Comprehensive Health Check.

Low vitamin D is widespread in the UK between October and March. B12 and folate are worth checking for anyone eating little or no meat, or taking long-term reflux medication.

Included in: Comprehensive

Each marker is covered in more depth in our blood test guides, including what raised and low results can point to.

What a blood test appointment involves

Around 45 minutes at Worth Corner. Only a few of those minutes are the blood draw.

  • Your history, before anything else. A Bupa-trained Health Adviser goes through your background, any symptoms, medication and family history. Without that, a result sitting just outside a reference range is impossible to interpret sensibly.
  • The sample. The same Health Adviser takes it — they are a trained phlebotomist, so you see one person throughout. A single draw normally covers every marker in your package.
  • Your in-clinic checks. Blood pressure and body composition, plus a 12-lead ECG on the Advanced Health Check and above. Measured while you are there, so those numbers are yours before you leave.
  • Arriving at Worth Corner. Park on site and follow the signs to the business centre reception. Access is step-free. Five minutes early is plenty.

When you get your results

Typically 2–5 working days. Analysis is done by UKAS-accredited laboratories — the same accreditation NHS laboratories hold.

What arrives is a written report, not a results slip. Each marker is given with its figure, the reference range, and an explanation of what it measures and what your number suggests in the context of everything else you were asked at the appointment.

Reference ranges describe the middle of a population, which means a result slightly outside one is often unremarkable and a result inside one is not a guarantee. The report is written to say which is which, rather than leaving you to read a table and worry. Where something genuinely warrants a closer look, it says so plainly and recommends your GP, who holds your full history and can arrange onward care on the NHS.

One point we are careful about: cancer markers such as PSA, CA125 and FIT can flag patterns but cannot diagnose or rule out cancer. A normal result is not an all-clear and a raised one is not a diagnosis. The report states this alongside the figure rather than in small print.

Do I need to fast?

For four of the five packages, no. Eat and drink as you normally would.

No fasting required

Essential, Advanced and Optimal Health Checks, and the Men’s and Women’s Cancer Marker Health Checks. Have breakfast — arriving hungry after a drive down the M23 makes a faint spell more likely without making any result more accurate.

Fasting optional but recommended

The Comprehensive Health Check only, because of its fasting insulin marker. Aim for around 8 hours without food if it is manageable. Water is fine, and carry on with prescribed medication as usual unless your doctor has said otherwise.

If you are fasting, take the earliest appointment you can. With Crawley running weekdays only and released a week ahead, the early slots tend to go first.

Getting to our Crawley clinic

Worth Corner Business Centre, Turners Hill Road, Crawley, RH10 7SL.

Worth Corner sits on the eastern side of Crawley towards Turners Hill, rather than in the town centre or around Gatwick. Use RH10 7SL rather than the business centre name — it is the reliable way to arrive at the right place first time.

By car

A short drive from junction 10 of the M23, with free parking on site. Straightforward from Horsham, East Grinstead, Haywards Heath and Reigate.

By train

Three Bridges and Crawley stations are both nearby, with regular services from London, Brighton and Gatwick. A short taxi covers the last stretch to Turners Hill Road.

Access

Step-free access to the clinic room, with parking directly outside the building rather than in a separate car park.

Frequently asked questions

How far ahead do I need to book a blood test in Crawley?
Crawley appointments are released seven days ahead, so the calendar will not show anything sooner than that. If you need a blood test inside seven days, call us on 020 8058 7765 — we can often arrange something within 24 hours, subject to diary availability. This is the main thing worth knowing before you look at the calendar and assume there is nothing available.
Can I get a blood test in Crawley without a GP referral?
Yes. No referral is needed. You book directly and attend Worth Corner Business Centre on Turners Hill Road. We are a private service working alongside NHS care rather than replacing it, so where a result needs following up, your report says so and recommends you take it to your GP.
Where is the Crawley clinic and is there parking?
Worth Corner Business Centre, Turners Hill Road, Crawley, RH10 7SL. It is a short drive from junction 10 of the M23, with free parking on site and step-free access. Put the postcode into your sat nav rather than searching for the business centre by name.
Is the Crawley clinic open on Saturdays?
No. The Crawley premises are not available at weekends, so all Crawley appointments are weekdays. Our Kingston upon Thames clinic in Surbiton does run Saturday morning appointments if a weekend is the only thing that works for you.
How long does a blood test appointment take?
Around 45 minutes. The draw itself is a few minutes — the rest is your in-clinic checks and going through your history with a Bupa-trained Health Adviser, which is what makes the written report useful rather than just a list of figures.
Do I need to fast before my blood test?
Not for the Essential, Advanced or Optimal Health Checks, or for either Cancer Marker Health Check. Fasting is optional but recommended for the Comprehensive Health Check, which includes a fasting insulin marker — around 8 hours without food if you can, with water fine throughout.
How quickly will I get my results?
Usually 2–5 working days. You receive a written report setting out each figure, the reference range it sits against and what the marker measures, in plain English. Samples are analysed by UKAS-accredited laboratories.
Which areas do patients travel from?
Patients regularly travel to Worth Corner from Crawley, Horley, Horsham, East Grinstead, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Reigate, Lingfield and across Mid Sussex and East Surrey. The M23 junction and free parking make it straightforward from most of the catchment.
